Today is Friday the 13th! And this weekend will be the Lunar eclipse. A very special one as it is an eclipse of the Blood Moon!
Some may find this an ominous thing. Certainly it would have been seen as such in the past. But why?
Lunar eclipses were sometimes viewed as ominous in the past simply because the people of the time did not understand why it happened. But why is it that horror movies and superstition always looks to not just 13, but Friday the 13th?
Well one theory of it’s origins is this: October 13, 1307, a Friday, marked the downfall of the Knights Templar, their wealth and growing strength. It marked a beginning of a dark time for them and you can read about here it on the History channel.
So yes it was pretty bad luck for them. But for everyone else, it was just another day. And for my little sidekick Sugo, it’s actually pretty lucky! Good things often seem to happen to him on Fridays and 13’s so never fear, perhaps it’s your lucky day too 😉
