This infamous woman’s story is shrouded by horrific stories of torture and vampire like behavior. However actual documents show another side. One of a powerful widow who refused to let her male counterparts take all from her because she was a woman alone! The painting’s text is a translation taken from a letter she wrote which still survives in archives today. The first feminist framed? Or simply a psychopath?
