Nothing is better than the joy of in-person events. Back in the days of covid, the hardest part was the isolation. Yet now that we can get together again, it seems there is much more focus on everything being online. . . or so we are led to believe by the things which are online.
Do an online business, teach via zoom, do a virtual meeting. And yes I offered online art workshops and even created a virtual gallery to exhibit my newest body of work. (it looked awesome if I do say so myself, you can still visit it here ). Yes I love my virtual gallery, but it just was no the same as the joy of in-person. I ended up doing the same show live after getting an Artist Corps grant and although people were still a little nervous to come out at that time, people did and we had a lovely time.
Now my number one query I get asks: “when are you doing another show? Where can I come and see your work in-person?” And I get it. There is something special about seeing an art piece up close. It is always different to seeing it in a photo or even on video. There is the whole atmosphere, it is just different. I have even been getting more queries as to whether I have a gallery of my own, or a studio people can visit.
What do you think? I would love to hear!
